Composition Characteristics


The BTi-6554 titanium alloy bar achieves strengthening by adding β-stabilizing elements (such as molybdenum, vanadium, and chromium). Among them, molybdenum and vanadium serve as the main β-stabilizers, enhancing strength and suppressing eutectoid reactions, while the addition of chromium helps improve the effects of heat treatment strengthening and room-temperature ductility. The alloy's phase transformation temperature is about 790°C, and its composition follows the 'multi-element, small quantity' principle to balance strength, toughness, and process stability.

Microstructure and Properties


Heat treatment has a significant impact on the microstructure and properties of BTi-6554 titanium alloy bars. Typical processes include solution treatment (such as 770–920°C for 30 minutes followed by air cooling) and aging treatment (such as 520–580°C for 10 hours followed by air cooling). The solution temperature should avoid the phase transformation point to prevent grain coarsening, and the aging temperature is controlled between 540–580°C to precipitate dispersed needle-shaped secondary α phase, forming a bimodal structure, thereby optimizing the strength-ductility balance. For example, a treatment of 770°C/30 min AC followed by 580°C/10 h AC can achieve a good balance with tensile strength of 1075–1328 MPa and elongation of 10–11.5%.

BTi-6554 titanium alloy bars are used in aerospace fasteners, submarine pipelines, racing car springs, and ship structural components. Its high specific strength, corrosion resistance, and fatigue resistance provide a significant weight reduction advantage in the aerospace and shipbuilding industries. Moreover, through proper forging (such as using a 10,000-ton hydraulic press) and heat treatment, stable production of large-sized semi-finished products (such as Φ250mm bars) can be achieved.
