Grade 6 titanium round bar (Grade 6) is a medium-strength α-type single-phase titanium alloy. Its chemical composition mainly includes titanium (in excess), aluminum (5.0%), and tin (2.5%). The total content of other elements such as iron, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, and silicon does not exceed 0.40%. It has Ti-5Al-2.5Sn as its core and is an alloy that cannot be strengthened through heat treatment. It is typically used in its annealed state. Its international standards include: ASTM B348: specifying the mechanical properties and chemical composition of titanium and titanium alloy bars; AMS 4926: applicable to bars, wires, and rings; UNS R54520: unified numbering system identification.

 

Product parameter

 

Basic physical parameters: Density: 4.42 g/cm³; Elastic modulus: 113 GPa (at room temperature); Poissons ratio: 0.33; Hardness: 277~286 HB (Brinell hardness). Mechanical properties: Tensile strength: ≥785 MPa (annealed state); Yield strength: ≥795 MPa; Elongation: ≥10%.


Corrosion resistance: excellent in oxidizing and neutral media, but need to be improved by alloying in reducing media; long working temperature can reach 500°C, short time tolerance of 800℃.

 

Processing technic

 

Specification range: diameter: 0.5~400 mm (common industrial diameter segments <10 mm for precision parts, 10~100 mm for aerospace,>100 mm for heavy equipment); length: standard 3000 mm, can be customized to 6000 mm; tolerance: diameter tolerance ±0.1 mm, length tolerance ±1 mm.

 

Production process: hot forging/hot rolling: improve internal structure, improve density, suitable for large size bars; cold drawing/cold rolling: used for high precision surface treatment; Surface treatment: polishing, pickling or spinning, improve corrosion resistance and aesthetics.

 

Application area

 

Grade 6 titanium round bar is widely used in aerospace: engine casing, wall plate, rocket engine parts; fuel tank, spacecraft skin.
Chemical and energy: heat exchangers, reaction towers, high pressure valves; nuclear power plant equipment and seawater desalination units.
Medical devices: orthopedic implants (such as bone screws, intramedullary nails); dental implants and artificial joints.
Ship and Marine engineering: pressure resistant hull, propeller shaft, offshore platform structural components.
