Ti-15-3 (TB5) Titanium Alloy Plate

Ti-15-3 titanium alloy, corresponding to the domestic grade TB5, is a new type of metastable β titanium alloy with a nominal composition of Ti-15V-3Cr-3Sn-3Al, which was successfully developed in 1978 by Nevada Henderson Titanium Co., Ltd. and TIMET Metals Division, and the Aviation Division of California Hawthorne Co., Ltd., which is almost all metastable β phase after solution treatment in the β phase area. It contains the isomorphic β stable element V, the eutectic β stable element Cr, the neutral element Sn and the β stable element Al. Ti-15-3 titanium alloy, as a metastable β titanium alloy, is one of the most promising titanium alloys due to its excellent processing properties and potential application capabilities. The alloy has been widely used in B1B, A10 aircraft and helicopters. At present, Ti-15-3 titanium alloy plate is mainly used in the aviation field in China.

Mechanical properties

The mechanical properties of Ti-15-3 titanium alloy plate at room temperature are shown in Table 4.

The main advantage of this alloy is that it has good cold rolling and cold forming properties, and the deformation of cold rolling can reach more than 90%. It can form medium complex sheet metal parts at room temperature, as well as superplastic forming at 700°C and cold-heading rivets and bolts. The alloy can achieve a strength of more than 1240MPa through aging treatment, and has excellent welding performance and corrosion resistance. Ti-15-3 alloy is mainly used to manufacture various sheet metal components, and has gained more and more widespread applications in the aviation and aerospace industries, and its development is of great significance to reduce the manufacturing cost of titanium aircraft structures. The working temperature in the solution treatment state is below 200°C, and the working temperature in the solution aging state can reach 290°C.
