1. Core material characteristics
High corrosion resistance, self-formed dense oxide film at room temperature, resistant to boiling hydrochloric acid, dilute sulfuric acid, nitric acid, organic acids, moist chlorine gas; far exceeding titanium, Hastelloy alloy, and stainless steel in most strong acid conditions. Not resistant to: concentrated hydrofluoric acid, fuming sulfuric acid, strong oxidizing fluoride ion systems.
Active metal characteristics: Strongly absorbs O, N, H at 400°C, causing embrittlement; welding and hot processing must be protected by high-purity argon gas (≥99.99% Ar), and the weld can only be exposed to air after cooling to below 150°C; fine wire is easier to ignite than R60705; coiling and forming with fine wire is better than R60705.
2. Main application scenarios
Chemical process corrosion prevention
Special welding wire for zirconium equipment (base metal R60702 paired with filler wire): welding of heat exchangers and reaction vessels with hydrochloric acid, acetic acid, and sulfuric acid;
Internal electrodes, binding wires, filters, springs, and raw materials for fasteners of chemical equipment.
Electrochemistry / Electroplating: cathode and anode substrates, resistant to strong corrosive electrolytic environment.
Electronics / Vacuum: adsorbent (zirconium-based), sputtering target material raw materials, leads of vacuum devices.
Pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals: welding of raw material reaction equipment, no metal ion contamination.
Research, special equipment: marine corrosion samples, high-temperature corrosion test pieces; a small amount of implanted electrode fine wires (biocompatibility good, no MRI artifacts).
3. Production process route (zirconium wire)
Zirconium ingot → Forging / Rolling of zirconium rod blanks → Surface descaling → Multiple passes of cold drawing → Intermediate vacuum annealing (eliminating work hardening, preventing breakage) → Fine drawing → Finished product annealing → Surface cleaning → Dividing into discs / straight bars → Non-destructive testing + physical property testing → Packaging.
Key control points: Vacuum annealing to prevent oxygen increase; Drawing lubrication; Control of oxygen content in finished products.
