Product Introduction
Gr.2 milling rod is a specialized rod made of industrial pure titanium, which is the core raw material for producing high-purity spherical titanium powder using processes such as plasma rotating electrode method. This product is known for its extremely high chemical purity, excellent plasticity, stable microstructure, and precise geometric dimensions, making it an ideal base material choice for advanced manufacturing fields such as metal injection molding (MIM), additive manufacturing (3D printing), powder metallurgy (PM), etc. Gr.2 powder is widely used in medical devices, oral implants, chemical corrosion-resistant parts, and high-end consumer goods manufacturing due to its excellent biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, and good comprehensive performance.
Production process
The production of Gr.2 powder bars adheres to the concept of high purity and precision, and the main steps include:
1. Raw materials: Selected high-quality grade 0 sponge titanium to ensure high purity at the source.
2. Electrode pressing: Sponge titanium is pressed into a dense electrode block under high pressure.
3. One time melting (VAR melting): Welding electrode blocks into consumable electrodes and conducting the first melting in a vacuum consumable arc furnace to form ingots, which can effectively remove volatile impurities and gases.
4. Secondary melting: Use the ingot melted once as an electrode for secondary VAR melting to further purify the metal, eliminate chemical composition segregation, and obtain ingots with highly uniform composition.
5. Forging: Ingots are forged at appropriate temperatures to break down coarse cast structures, refine grains, and improve material density.
6. Rolling and Drawing: The forging blank is processed to near the target diameter through hot rolling or cold drawing processes, and its microstructure is improved.
7. Heat treatment: Perform recrystallization annealing treatment to fully eliminate internal stress, homogenize the structure, and restore the plasticity of the material.
8. Precision machining and polishing: A precision centerless grinder is used to perform final dimensional precision machining on the bar, ensuring that the diameter tolerance and straightness meet extremely high requirements, and obtaining a smooth mirror like surface.
9. Non destructive testing and cleaning: Perform ultrasonic testing to ensure that there are no defects inside. Finally, after strict cleaning and drying, it is ready for packaging.

Product transportation and packaging
To ensure that the surface of the titanium rod is free from contamination, scratches, and moisture absorption, we strictly package.
Cleaning: The bars are cleaned and dried in a clean environment to ensure that the surface is free of any contaminants.
Packaging: Each cleaned rod is individually wrapped to prevent contamination and damage during transportation and storage.
External identification: Clear product information (name, specifications, batch number, furnace number), moisture-proof, impact resistant and other prompts are clearly marked on the outside of the packaging box.
Transportation and storage: Land or air transportation, keep the environment dry. The product should be stored in a clean, dry, and non corrosive gas warehouse.
