Product Introduction


48-OT3 (TA5) titanium alloy is a medium-strength α-type titanium alloy, which contains 4% α stable element Al and trace element B, of which Al strengthens the alloy and B can refine the alloy structure. The alloy cannot be heat-treated and strengthened and is usually used in an annealed state. The alloy has excellent welding properties and corrosion resistance, allowing it to undergo conventional pressure and machining.

Oxidation Resistance: Similar to Gr.6 alloy.
Corrosion resistance: Corrosion resistance in seawater is better than aluminum alloys, stainless steel, and nickel-based alloys. Generally, there is no pitting corrosion, intergranular corrosion, etc. in use.

Welding performance: 48-OT3 titanium alloy plate has excellent welding performance and can perform argon arc welding and electron beam welding.

 

Product features


The chemical composition of TA5 titanium alloy ingots with a diameter of 660mm produced by three vacuum melting meets the requirements of GB/T3620.1 standard, and the phase transition point is tested by metallographic method at about 1000°C. After the ingot is forged into a billet of 120mm×800mm× 1000mm for rolling. The rolling process adopts the self-developed uncovered hot rolling process A and multi-pass cold rolling process B, and both hot and cold rolling are carried out on a 1450mm four-roll reversible rolling mill. The specific process route is as follows:


Process A: The slab is hot-rolled to 5mm→ the plate is cut and cut→ 2 pieces of titanium plates are welded into stacked rolling wraps→ heated at 930°C→ annealed to 3mm→ 650°C→ surface treatment→ cut into 3mm×1000mm× 2000mm finished plates.


Process B: The slab is hot-rolled to 3.5mm→800°C, then crystallized and annealed→ surface treatment→ and the finished product is 3mm→650°C annealing →→ the surface treatment cut into 3mm×1000mm×2000mm.

 

Application of the product


48-OT3 titanium alloy plate has excellent corrosion resistance and welding properties, and is used in the manufacture of ship chimney skins, masts and other parts used in marine environments, and is widely used in the shipbuilding industry and marine engineering environment.

 

Product details


Hot rolling and cold rolling are common processing methods in the industrial production of titanium alloy plates, usually for medium and heavy plates above 4mm, hot rolling can be directly used to roll to the thickness of the finished product through 1~3 rolling courses, while for thin plates below 3mm, hot rolling or multi-rolling cold rolling can be used for processing and production. At present, the 48-OT3 titanium alloy plate is mainly changed by changing a certain process parameter in rolling, forging or heat treatment to change its influence on the alloy structure and properties.

Product packaging: 48-OT3 titanium alloy plate is wrapped in moisture-proof paper and plastic film for boards with a thickness greater than 4mm, and then packaged in wooden boxes or iron sheets; Boards with a thickness of less than 4mm are separated with moisture-proof paper and wrapped in plastic film before being packed into wooden or iron boxes.
