Ti6Al7Nb Titanium Alloy Plate

Ti6Al7Nb titanium alloy, corresponding to the domestic grade TC20, has a nominal composition of Ti-6Al-7Nb. TC20 titanium alloy features high specific strength, excellent resistance to corrosive media, biocompatibility, and a low elastic modulus. Therefore, as a second-generation α-β type medical titanium alloy, it is widely used in surgical implants and other medical fields.
 

1. Physical Properties
The phase transformation temperature of Ti6Al7Nb titanium alloy plates is 1000±5°C, with a density of approximately 4.53 g/cm³.

2. Microstructure
Currently, the standard requirements for Ti6Al7Nb titanium alloy plates are specified in the domestic GB/T13810-2007 standard, which outlines the requirements for room temperature mechanical properties, microstructure, and bendability. The microstructure should consist of sufficiently deformed α and β phases and be annealed to achieve the desired structure, with the original β grains being thoroughly broken and continuous grain boundary α not allowed. During production, to obtain a uniform microstructure, it is necessary to ensure that the billets undergo enough number of forging operations and sufficient deformation. The transverse microstructure of the 20mm plate is shown in the figure below, displaying elongated α and secondary acicular α structures. The microstructure is relatively uniform and meets the ETTC2 A6 grade.

Ti6Al7Nb titanium alloy is widely used in artificial knee joints, hip joints, dental implants, tooth roots, and denture metal frameworks due to its excellent biocompatibility, corrosion resistance, mechanical properties, and machinability. The shapes of orthopedic plates for human implants are diverse, including upper limb locking plates, tibial locking plates, proximal lateral humeral locking plates, and T-shaped locking plates.
 

Ti6Al7Nb titanium alloy plates are mainly delivered with an alkali-acid washed and polished surface. The appearance is uniform in color, free from defects such as cracks, folds, or scratches, and the dimensional tolerances meet standard requirements.
